Show highlights from the Retail Design Expo 2017

Show highlights from the Retail Design Expo 2017

From VM to VR, and from live mannequins to live speakers, the retail design expo gave the thinkers, the designers and the doers of the industry a chance to see, discuss and take lessons from some of the most innovative companies in retail design to spearhead their own plans for the future of shopping spaces.

Here’s some of the teams favourite highlights spotted the show.

Last year we saw John Lewis’s Leeds Flagship integrate art into their store and we think Mirri are onto something here with their specially commissioned art project as two dresses are created out of their metallic paper.

Oriam Green’s Re-board® product was turned into a giant London bus that doubled up as meeting space bringing a new take on pop up stores.

Display by Design won the best stand award by the SDEA. As the likes of House of Fraser plan to bring champagne bars into store will the future of retail be put on ice too?

Forming Reality went bare for the future of retail with their 3D printed ‘bare’ mannequins.

As ‘raw’ meets ‘modern luxe’, the design team over at SMP incorporated industrial filament bulbs, Shimmer Walls and Tension Fabric into their champagne bar.

The TRO Boutique showcased emerging technologies to enhance the consumer experience in-store and included an interactive ‘living’ poster and offered personalised teabags based on how the visitor was feeling. As retail spaces become more than just a store the TRO tea boutique gave a personalised experience.

From wearables to augmented reality, shopper agency Outform showed visitors to the expo how they dare to innovate as consumer shopping behaviours change in-store.

Straco’s very own live mannequins ended the show at the SMP Big Party with acrobatic performances and retail theatre.
