The globally recognised POPAI awards took place this week and with 191 entries from some of the most innovative companies in the world of advertising display and point-of-purchase it was always going to be fierce competition. With 63 awards dished out in total, including 23 gold, here’s a round-up of a few of our favourites.
Happy campers at Superior Creative Services
For their client Beiersdorf, Superior walked away with the Display of the Year (temporary displays) Award for their ingenious campervan temporary display. As seen in -store at Superdrug, the display promoted staying safe in the sun at home in the UK and saw an uplift in sales with the judging panel saying “A strong approach to creativity has resulted in a truly eye-catching front-of-store piece that delivered excellent levels of shopper engagement and sales uplift,” said the awards judging panel. “The way the display incorporated key campaign messages was particularly impressive. All in all, a stand-out winner.”
My Little Pony, Won BIG for Display Plan
For the permanent display of the year, Display Plan struck gold with their concept for Hasbro. Comprising miniature stools and a TV screen to keep young shoppers in-store entertained; the concept is as bright and engaging as the toys themselves. The judges commented: “In an environment where competition for attention is fierce, the agency created a strong in-store presence for Hasbro that delivered real depth and featured the interesting application of cutting-edge manufacturing technology,” said the panel.
Arken P-O-P
Walking away with five awards, Arken’s real show stopper was their free-standing display for FREEDOM cosmetics in store at Superdrug. Occupying a small footprint in store, the unit houses all a girl needs for her makeup bag and makes (no pun intended) for easy consumer pick up. Well done team Arken.
Lucky seven for In Contrast
Last but not least; the big winners of the night included In Contrast, who took three Golds, two Silvers and two Bronzes – go team In Contrast. There’s no surprise that their concept for Kinder’s Halloween display won gold in the Confectionary- Temporary Display Category; we know we won’t be able to resist picking up an egg this Halloween.
Well done to all Gold winners from team Straco
