A classic coming of age story, complete with protagonist, whirlwind of highs & lows, beards, babies and fairy-tale romance.
Reaching the almighty milestone age of 21 has always been symbolic of acquiring the keys to the door, the age at which responsibility and self-dependence becomes unavoidable and the harsh reality of life slaps you in the face. Yep, you’re an adult.
Looking back over Straco’s 20th year before adulthood, what can only be described as a rollercoaster of events pleasantly amounting to a record breaking and refreshing year in business…
Chocolate Labrador Henry Horseman was born and appointed Head of Happiness in the office, spreading an infectious mood of puppy fever and boosting workplace moral.
Following the implementation of our logo rebranding in 2017, further updates took place in the Doncaster office. New slogan vinyl’s have helped to spruce up the office aesthetic as well as brand spanking new exterior signage. The marketing team launched the #StracoJobs campaign across social media platforms to make it easier to find our amazing opportunities by simply searching the hashtag on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. A new polished marketing strategy for 2018, generates an exciting prospect for the Straco team to utilise the advancements in technology and explore creative avenues.
Prince of Point of Sale Craig was promoted to associate consultant and crowned employee of the year.
Strike a pose! again – new meet the team photographs were taken, initiating the newest members of the Straco squad.
Straco babies were made and born.
Rob steals the table tennis champion title from Simon at our Christmas party.
For Simon, in 1989, this landmark birthday was celebrated fronting his band ‘The Playground Chairs’ at Manchester’s boardwalk to a crowd of famous faces and fans suffering from ‘Horsemania’. Oblivious to the prospect that in 10 years he would be trading his mic in for a Hagenuk mobile phone and fax machine.
For Simon, in 2018, Straco turning 21 means…
“At 21 I see Straco maturing at last, being at the forefront of recruitment today, knowing what a client wants and needs as a supplier, and keeping Straco ahead of the pack with sound investment in good people and technology, also making sure to have fun along the way…”
Seeing the industry grow and change has encouraged the growth and expansion of Straco’s recruitment team, methodology and values. As Recruitment Director, Simon has learnt to quickly adapt…
“My biggest challenge has been keeping Straco going forward with the ever-changing market trends and adapting to new technology…”
Whilst most importantly being able to maintain Straco’s unique sense of humour and social environment.
“One thing the world of business as taught me, if I didn’t laugh a lot I wouldn’t do it!”
Today at Straco HQ we have celebrated with an extended lunch break, tasty food platter, 90’s anthems, super spicy noodle challenge, ping pong and plenty of party snapshots. It’s safe to say we’ve had a great day in the office, an honest two hours of freedom in preparation for another rewarding year working with some of the most talented candidates and top clients.
So, Cheers to 21 years! Let’s hope our 21st year lives up to its expectations.
